The European Le Mans Series have confirmed to their teams that they intend to start their season as announced in their revised provisional calendar.
Thus far confirmed are the Pre-season test at Le Castellet on 14-15 July, followed by the opening race of the season at the same venue on 17-19 July.
Spa-Francorchamps on 7-9 August and Barcelona on 28-29 August have also been confirmed.
As things currently stand the three confirmed events are set to take place behind closed doors but with the proviso that this could be revised and relaxed if public policy changes close to the event dates.
Championship organisers LMEM have taken the decision to press on in anticipation that a range of potentially impactful travel restriction and self isolation measures in place across Europe and beyond will have eased in time to allow the events to proceed.
As things currently stand restrictions to/ from mainland Europe to/ from the UK and North America could impose a significant impact on the ability and willingness of team members and drivers to travel and to turn around in time for subsequent events.
Monza’s 11 October date and Portimao on 1 November are not yet formally confirmed but it anticipated that they too will proceed.
Both the Michelin Le Mans Cup and Ligier European Series supporting the ELMS will also feature on the restarted calendar.
